Although I won't be returning to blogland just yet, I thought I'd drop in and give you an update on how Jos is doing.
But first things first. I would like to thank those of you who left such heartwarming comments on my previous post and those of you who kindly checked in with me through private messages.
After having spent 3 weeks in hospital during which he had surgery, Jos was finally allowed to come home last Wednesday. He's still got a way to go before he'll be back on his feet so we're taking it day by day, cherishing every step into the right direction.
Time has been unhurried but relentless, and it's truly mind-boggling that most of January has come and gone while we've been living this half-life which feels light years away from the one we used to live before our world came tumbling down.
Thankfully I had the pleasure of Bess's company while Jos was in hospital.
She insisted on sleeping with me all night demanding cuddles and purring loudly whenever she thought I was awake. And I definitely lay awake worrying most nights, particularly during those first couple of weeks.
Obviously no outfit photos were taken - unless you count the one of me wearing pyjamas - although I promise you I did manage to dress up on most days, even if I did accessorize only sparingly and my make-up routine went out of the window.
The photos accompanying this post were taken in our back garden during the cold snap we had a couple of weeks ago or while running errands in our village.
Meanwhile, and much to Bess's joy, it's the return of the hospital bed ...
I'm desperately missing my blogging friends so I'm hoping to return soon. After all, there's still that December backlog to catch up on.

Oh Ann I've been behind on my reading and just seen your 2 posts. I'm so sorry to hear Jos has been poorly, I can only imagine how hard it has been for you and I'm so glad you have had Bess to come home too. I'm delighted to hear Jos is now back home. A big hug to you and a gentle one to him and wishing him a steady recovery. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear from you. It's great news that Jos is out of the hospital and home.

Wishing Jos a speedy recovery and a return to good health. I have been thinking of you and worried when your absence was quite long. I aways read but rarely comment
ReplyDeleteYou and Jos have been much in my thoughts
I know that there is a ways to go , but hoping you can at least breathe a little easier now he is home - even if the wretched hospital bed had to join him
Enjoy your healing cuddles with Bess
Siobhan
So good to hear that Jos has been allowed to come home.. what a relief it must be. Sending loads of prayers, positive thought and warm hugs Jos and your way. Hang in there my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a ordeal you both had to go through. And still, rehabilitation takes a while. But at least Jos is home and Bess is happy again I assume. I really hope that this year will be a,, normal,, one for both of you. No hospital overstay and all that. I wish you both lots of strength, happiness and luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Jos is well enough to come home, and really hope that 2026 improves for both of you from here. January really has been rotten this year. It's good to see Nurse Bess taking her responsibilities seriously.
ReplyDeleteMuch love, my friend. Xxx
ReplyDeleteGood to hear Jos is back home and recuperating.
ReplyDelete-Goody

Dear friend, I am stopping by to let you know how much I care and that you are in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHearing that Jos is back home and making progress, even if it's one step at a time, is so heartening.
ReplyDeleteI‘m glad to hear that Josh is better. I‘ve missed you but hsve hay some troubles myself. Make-up is not really important when we deal with essential basics of life. All the best!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to know that Joss was well enough to be sent home and that Bess has been there to raise your spirits. Emily
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief to see a post from you. I am so glad that Jos is finally back home. I am praying that he will be feeling much better soon. 2026 needs to be wonderful from this point on, because both you and Jos deserve so much more than a half-life. Sending you all the love <3
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Jos was able to come home and continue recuperating there. Speaking from experience, being home is infinitely and indescribably better than being in the hospital. I hope his morale and health are improving. And also yours as well. The job of caretaking is intensely hard, especially for a loved one. Periods like this is tough. You have my deepest sympathy and compassion. Hang in there, pal.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Bess must be over the moon! ✨ Wishing you a smooth and speedy return to blogging—your updates are always such a joy to read. Can’t wait to see you back catching up on that December backlog and sharing more of your wonderful stories! 💻💛"
ReplyDeleteI hope Jos is continuing to make a good recovery. Cats really do know when we’re in need of some cuddles, don’t they? I hope you are also looking after yourself too, as I know how stressful it can be looking after and worrying about someone else. Take care.
ReplyDeleteNo pressure to post outfits, dear Ann! I'm so glad you dropped an update - I've been thinking of you and Jos and Bess and sending the biggest good vibes ever! I've just had an episode with my mom (she's fine) and it's given me the tiniest glimpse into the caretaking and massive emotional energy it takes as loved ones age. I'm so glad Jos is at home again, and keep Bess on him! Cats' purrs have been scientifically proven to help aid healing!
ReplyDeleteSo much love to you, and please remember that you can't care for someone else unless you care for yourself first. Self care isn't selfish. <3 Sheila
Sheila- You are so right about cat’s purrs being healing! I have an irregular heartbeat, and one of my cats would sit on my chest when I was having an episode, and purr at proper heart rhythm until my heart calmed down and followed suit. She did this every time.
DeleteSo Ann, I also hope Bess stays on Jos like a sweet fuzzy healer- I am living proof of what Sheila says: it will help!

Still hoping you two are doing better? How's Jos?
